A Little Bit About Myself

It occurred to me that perhaps I should tell you about myself a little bit.

My name is Todd Clary. I am in my mid-thirties. I was born in Midland, Texas. My family moved to Oregon when I was nine. I lived in Oregon all through college, where I met my wife. We have been married now for a bit over twelve years. Together, we have four children, three girls and one boy. I can safely say our kids are one of our biggest joys. Life can be a struggle with them at times, but much more so they bring us laughter and fun.

I went to college to become a software engineer. Thus, I tell people I am a software engineer by trade, but I found that I enjoyed other things much more than programming. Often, I get into conversations with coworkers about their lives, dreams, and especially money. During these conversations, helping other people understand more about themselves was much more fulfilling to me than my day to day tasks. So, earlier in 2018 I resolved to find another way of supporting my family that I could feel passionate about. During that search I came across the idea of being a Financial Coach.

The more I read about it, the more it seemed the right fit. I held off on any training though for a month or two just to make sure that whatever passion I felt wasn't fleeting. So after those couple of months and with the desire growing instead of shrinking, it seemed the right thing to pursue. I bought into an online training for financial coaching. Took all the lessons and started looking for clients right away. All told, I finished the training and started Clarity Financial Coaching in May of 2018.

It took a few months until my first clients started to come through. So far, helping them understand their goals, develop the plans to get there, and think more critically about their financial behaviors has been incredibly rewarding. So far my clients are on fire to to pay off debt, save money, and have better control over their financial future.

I am extremely grateful to my family for their support in this endeavor and to my clients for allowing me to work and walk with them through their journey as they learn to control their money. It is a privilege I don't take lightly and I will always strive to encourage them onward.
